www.resimao.org − the information system of the West African Market Information Systems Network (RESIMAO/WAMIS-NET)

RESIMAO/WAMIS-NET is a Network of Market Information Systems from Benin, Together they provide to all stakeholders up to date and accurate information on 400 rural and urban agricultural commodity markets via different media. The network monitors the development of the agricultural sector through the collection and publication of prices and related statistics and analytical reports.

RESIMAO/WAMIS-NET launched a web-platform to provide price on agricultural markets and statistical data in West-Africa. The information is also displayed via GIS.

Harga pasar dan posisi geografis dimasukan lewat GIS (sistem informasi geografi)
GIS-interface: Geographical-related data on markets, stocks and radio stations are viewable and entered via Geographical Information System (GIS) interface.
Price information is displayed in tabular form or in graphical version.
Currency conversion: Standard currency is fCFA. Price information for countries with different currencies is entered and viewable in local currency as well.
SMS-Service: Users can register for receiving price-information on products via SMS.
Languages: The system is useable in english and french.
Product list: The product list comprises at present 70 different products and is conform with the FAO commodity list.
A technical objective was to use open source software, to allow system transfer within third world countries and facilitate training.
